Our Cartagena plant is committed to upholding the highest standards in safety, health and environmental (SH&E) practices, while also striving to make a positive and lasting impact in our local community.
Built in 1964, our plant has two manufacturing units that produce carbon blacks for elastomer reinforcement and specialty carbon blacks for customers around the world. Today, we consist of a team of approximately 75 passionate and collaborative employees.
Our team supports a variety of community outreach activities, including nutrition relief in local schools, fundraising for flood victims, computer donations to children's charities, and fundraising for children with cancer.
Life at Cabot
The safety of our employees, contractors, visitors and neighbors is always our top priority. Every year we celebrate Global Safety Day, an annual company-wide celebration to re-focus our efforts on proactive safety measures and strengthen our commitment to the “Drive to Zero” initiative.
This year's activities were focused on awareness and prevention of on- and off-the-job injuries to hands and fingers.
50th Anniversary Celebration
In November of 2015, we were proud to celebrate our 50th anniversary of carbon black production. We thank all of our employees for their dedication, collaboration and professionalism that were key to achieving this impressive milestone.
Commitment to Responsible Care®
We were proud to be named a 2015 Responsible Care Leader by Responsabilidad Integral, a voluntary initiative of the global chemical industry that promotes sustainable development through better performance in protecting people and the environment.
